Subject: The Fun Continues.....
Hello Everyone
Welcome - if you're new to the FitB family, it's a good place.
First thing - Very quickly - there are about 17 seats left for the astounding
Phil Henry & Hannah Martin in the Kingston Barn tonight. Available to book
online up until about 2.30pm, when we have to shut down in order to print off
the list. But still available on the door, which tonight is at 7pm folks. A
bit earlier than usual, as we've changed the start times to 7.30pm to tie in
with our Gulbenkian gigs. It helps us all get to bed at a more sensible time
too. All details and clips etc here....

Still some good seats left for the Peatbog Faeries on Tuesday at the
Gulbenkian - not that you'll be sitting in them for long I hope. Info
here...www.folkinthebarn.co.uk/Whatsnewinfo.aspx?id=157
Then on Wednesday - wish us luck as we are nominated for Best Creative
Business in the Kent Creative Awards. Another chance to wear my posh frock.
We'll let you know how we get on.
Talking of Awards - did you all catch the BBC R2 Show from the Royal Albert
Hall? Did you spot him? Yes Mr Simon Nicol was proudly playing in the brand
new Rufus Wainwright Band, along with our friends Ashley Hutchings MBE, Ruth
Angel and Belinda O'Hooley. The whole evening was spectacular, my head was
spinning, and notjust because of the wine. Besides, the Show of Hands table
bought the whole Bar so there was none left - ha ha! (just kidding) There
were some outstanding performances - Sam Lee, and Rufus Wainwright, some
great intros from the likes of Stephen Mangan and Micheal Morpugo, and some
very moving speeches and moments -Rhianna Giddons and Norman Waterson. You
can catch it all here for another 13 days....

I should remind you that dear Ashley Hutchings will be coming to do a very
special show for Folk in the Barn in July

and bringing the
lovely Ruth Angel with him to accompany on violin. This is a must for all fans
of Fairport, Steeleye and the Albions. Ashley is the reason they all exist.
Bob Dylan recently called him the single most important figure in English Folk
Rock. He's also a great storyteller, and you can imagine the stories he has
to share with us all. He gave me a cd of the live show last week and I was
instantly entranced and am very much looking forward to the evening. Ruth is
a delight too. Check out her beautiful accompaniment of Who Knows Where The
Time Goes from the Folk Awards last month.
Show of Hands were on top format the Gulbenkian weren't they. We had the
added bonus of it being Steve's birthday but his crew and Phil, had all
decided to pretend they'd forgotten. The highlight was when TM Jamie brought
on a cake with mediocre pyrotechnics, which promptly extinguished. Steve's
crestfallen retort 'was more than that supposed to happen?', became the theme
for the rest of the show. Steve claiming it was a metaphor for his life and
then making up a song about it. It was very funny, and lovely to see the two
of them as a duo again - where it all started for many of us.
I'm off to make supper for Phil and Hannah for later. It would be great to
sell those last 17 tickets. If you're not sure - trust me (again) they are a
must-see duo! Don't forget the earlier start - 7pm for 7.30pm.
Bye for now
