FORTHCOMING GUESTS:

SEPTEMBER 6TH ? NICK BARRACLOUGH?S BROKEDOWN PALACE

Named after the Grateful Dead song, this is a new band that Nick has put together from bits of Telephone Bill & the Smooth Operators - Steve Reynolds and Chris Cox - and two new Cambridge voices, Lizzie Taylor and Phil Meyler. As eclectic as you'd expect, they plunder the worlds of country, bluegrass, white gospel and old-time, interspersed with the occasional lollipop. Heavy on the harmonies and wryly delivered, we gather they went down well at Folk on the Pier (the Cromer Festival) so we should be in for a real treat - mark their words!

SEPTEMBER 13TH ? DANA & SUSAN ROBINSON (USA)
(
http://www.robinsongs.com/)

Dana and Susan Robinson blend roots and tradition with contemporary song writing, bringing to their performances an understanding of America's musical heritage. Dana writes songs and tells stories about America, the land and its people. Together, in concert, you'll hear two rich, intimate voices, intricate and powerful guitar and banjo playing with a handful of fiddle and mandolin thrown in. They are one of the Club?s favourite acts and it will be a real pleasure to see them again.

SEPTEMBER 20TH ? COOPER & BOLTON
(
http://petecooper.com/cooperandbolton.htm)

Pete Cooper is well known to Dartford regulars as fiddle/mandolin player and vocalist in the band ?Rattle on the Stovepipe?. He also teaches, composes and writes about traditional fiddling and is Director of the London Fiddle School. Pete first teamed up with Richard Bolton (cello, guitar & vocals) in 1999 and together they perform a mixture of British and American folk songs, their own compositions and dance tunes from various folk traditions. Expect an evening of the highest quality.

SEPTEMBER 27TH ? THE WILLOWS
(
http://www.thewillowsband.co.uk/)

The Willows are a young band from Cambridge who have been making a big name for themselves over the past few years, performing at clubs and festivals around the UK and supporting the likes of Lau, Seth Lakeman and Peatbog Faeries on tour. They deftly straddle the worlds between Americana and English roots music and Jade Rhiannon, their lead singer, has received much attention for her husky vocals. Also in their number is Ben Savage, who we saw in April accompanying Hannah Sanders.
