  MUSICAL TRADITIONS CLUB AUTUMN 2016

****************************************************

SEPTEMBER 16th JIM BAINBRIDGE

plus MARTIN CLARKE

From South Tyneside, Jim Bainbridge is a skilful musician and a natural entertainer who can make any session go with a swing, with a song for every occasion. Satirical and comic songs crop up alongside traditional North East, Irish, Scots and music hall songs acquired on his rambles. Roy Harris said : " totally satisfying to one (like me) who likes his trees with the bark still on them". Melodeon-player Martin Clarke , mainstay of The Leeds Band for many years, is also a gripping singer and raconteur with a great line in unsettling quirky songs. We are pleased to welcome him to his first performance in London.    ************************************************                                       FRIDAY 28th OCTOBER JIMMY CROWLEY Known as the "Voice of Cork", legendary singer / musician Jimmy Crowley has been a central figure in the Irish folk scene since the enthusiastic reception of "The Boys of Fairhill", the debut album of his band Stoker's Lodge in 1977. Since then Jimmy has been travelling the world as a professional musician. No-one sounds like Jimmy, and few can match him for the humour, joy, tenderness and sheer storytelling craft which he brings to his repertoire of songs.  Now available Cork Urban Ballads, a body of songs from oral tradition collected by Jimmy since the late sixties. http://www.shamrockirishmusic.org/id36.html We are pleased to present this event in association with RETURN TO CAMDEN  www.returntocamden.org    (Adm. tonight ?10/concs.?8            (mems. ?8/concs ?6)**********************************************************************************************************                             NOVEMBER   11th.
