Hello
Hope this mailout finds you happy and rested and having had a lovely Summer full of sunshine, laughter and music. Back to the grind for some I know, but the fun doesn't have to stop. In fact we've arranged the most fun gig you could have for the first of the season - just in case anyone is feeling those post August/festival blues.

Do come and join us all at the Gulbenkian on Sunday 11th September for an evening with two of the most entertaining people we know. Comedy and Cropredy Legend Richard Digance will have you all moved in many mysterious ways, maybe even morris dancing (or maybe that's just at Cropredy).

Richard is one of those wonderful observers of human life and has a way of sharing our quirks and absurdities with us, usually accompanied by a tune, but always in a way that makes us laugh at ourselves and at him! He's a real tonic and a very clever man. Opening for Richard will be the delightful annA rydeR, also a legend in the particular part of the folk world we inhabit. Her fantastic Fairport tour diary has a permanent place on our bathroom bookshelf and is the main reason prolonged tittering can often be heard from behind that door. Her brilliant cartoons and craziness are the front for a deeply sensitive writer, another observer of the eccentricities of life and all it entails. I know for the fact that the sleepy inhabitants of Cropredy camping field 6a last month were delighted to be woken by a mischievous annA kindly reminding them, by blowing her trumpet loudly outside their tents at the respectable hour of almost 10am, that they'd paid to be there and what were they doing wasting time lying down when they could be standing up having fun. Very thoughtful of her I thought and quite right. annA's brand new album will be available, featuring a cast of many including FITB friends Gerry Colvin and Marion Fleetwood, and if you listen to the end, you'll hear the shipping forecast - I wonder if you can guess who is reading it?

There are plenty of good seats available still so please do come and share a lovely evening with these two wonderful human beings and us.

Home Service ft John Kirkpatrick
Sunday 25th September, The Playhouse, Whitstable £18.50
Both concerts featuring some of the most talented musicians on the circuit and some of the most stirring and beautiful music. If you're inclined to help us all by introducing some un-folky friends to this wonderful folky world, either of these two concerts would do the trick.

OCTOBER NEWS....TRADARRR

We're pretty sad to have to let you know that TRADarrr have had to cancel their date with us on 3rd October. I'm happy to blame technology and those clever interconnecting online calendars, something went wrong and one key member of the band can't make the date. But we will re-schedule for next season as they are too good to miss and getting better all the time. Huge apologies to all tickets purchasers. Please contact the Gulbenkian 01227 769075 to arrange a refund.

Meanwhile - have a good weekend and remember...

Benefits of music: - Stress relief - Boost immunity - Reduce heart disease - Enhances emotional strength - Boost self esteem (Google fact)
