Black History Month
October 2016


Black History Month is an annual celebration of, and opportunity to learn about Black history, culture and heritage and it takes place every October. Since Music for Change was established in 1997, our talented team of artists have been delivering workshops and events to celebrate Black History Month. 

 

Our artistic collaborators have a wealth of experience and knowledge enabling them to facilitate workshops of the highest quality. Artists deliver a range of fun and educational workshops including Caribbean Song Writing and Storytelling, Afro-Caribbean Vocals, Gospel, R'n'B, Blues, Southern African Vocals, West African Drumming, West African Dance, Circus Skills, West African Storytelling, South African Gum Boot Dance and Zulu Dance.

New artist - Bindi Sagoo

 

Music for Change are delighted to welcome percussionist, Bindi Sagoo to our team of artists. Bindi is an experienced facilitator in Indian drumming workshops including bhangra dums, tabla, dhol and dholak.  Bindi brings a wealth of experience to Music for Change including touring with the highly acclaimed Dhol Foundation and performing in the West End musical, Bend It Like Beckham. Diwali, one of the most prominent Hindu festivals, is celebrated over 5 days; this year between 28 October and 1 November 2016. Music for Change offer workshops in Indian dance (Bharatanatyam, Bollywood, Bhangra, Kathak) and Indian folk storytelling.
