Hi Guys
Another beautiful Saturday. Did you enjoy the Good Harvest clip? I reckon it
must be one of the most beautiful performances I've seen. We have our very own
UK version of Good Harvest coming to the Kingston Barn next month, the sublime
Chris While and Julie Matthews. Since the sad cancellation of TRADarrr it'll
be our only October concert, so please lets make it a good one.
Fotheringay was pretty special. It was a very emotional night due to Jerry
Donahue's absence and the reasons for it, but the band were upbeat and we all
sent him a video Happy Birthday recording thanks to Sally. It was fantastic
to hear those songs, I didn't catch them first time around. It was a dreadful
night for me personally though because despite this being a very special
concert we were less than half full, which I didn't predict, and that was a
very expensive mistake, one I can't risk making again.
On that worrying note, sadly it seems we're only half full for Home Service
tomorrow night at Whitstable. Please remember I really can't do this without
you all, I hope I'm not losing sight of what's good out there, but I know Home
Service will be terrific, I've heard the new CD and it's ace, really stirring
stuff. I know Sunday night tele has just gone up a huge notch with the return
of the gorgeous Cornish one, but we don't even have to set the video recorder
any more thanks to the wonder that is iplayer. I'm nagging here, I know, and
I'm really sorry, but it's only so we can all have this. There's 1500
receiving this email, representing twice that number at least, so we only need
2.5% of you to come along, which doesn't seem beyond hope. Me, and all the
band would be very grateful.
Home Service - "The very mightiest of sounds that could grace any stage, with
nothing remotely comparable in the folk-rock arena in terms of maximum
visceral and emotional impact...a totally essential purchase: no argument."
Net Rhythms
"Replacing Tam would never be an easy task, but with John K joining our ranks
we have found exactly the calibre of character and musicianship required. John
will take over the lead vocal role and add his inimitably masterful accordion,
and now that we have John K on board, Steve King will be not only be gracing
the keyboard, but freed to stand tall amongst the brass section and exhibit
his skills on tenor saxophone, helping to create an even more dynamic sound."
In addition to new front man John Kirkpatrick, the band also welcomes Rory
McFarlane on Bass. Rory's other band has a certain Richard Thompson in it -
so he's no slouch either.
