Subject: Upcoming Show Tuesday 25th April
Dear All
Many thanks to those who turned up last Tuesday to see Geoff
Achison and the UK Soul Diggers, here is a review:
"One of the best shows that has been at the Bottleneck
Blues Club happened on Tuesday night, performed by one of the
best guitarists that has ever played here. Geoff Achison, master
guitarist, whether playing an acoustic set, rock and roll, or funky blues along
with his superb band
The UK Soul Diggers: Andy on bass, the great Sam Kelly on
drums (including whooping and hollering) and, without a doubt, one of the
finest keyboard players in the Country, Paul Jobson....he alone is worth the
entry fee! A sign of a great band is when the local musicians are in the
crowd, as they were. They all came to see this virtuoso of the guitar and
they were not disappointed. Geoff was over here all the way from
Australia to promote his new album, Another Mile another Minute,
plus some old favourites.....and this is exactly what he did! The first
set was go for it, in your face...let's get people tapping their feet in time. However,
he really showed his skill when he started the second set with his
acoustic guitar....you could have heard a pin drop! Now he sounds like
the blues man he really is and it takes a special skill to turn the the old
Elvis song, Can't Help Falling in Love with You, into a slow, sad, blues. There
was full house here on Tuesday night and that shows the pulling power of this
musician. This is real music played with heart and soul by hard working
musicians who fully deserve the credit they get. Well done to all those
who turn up at small gigs like this all over the Country and keep good live
music, live."
For this
month we have a band that I have not, personally, so far seen, however, are
very much the buzz of the moment on the circuit. This is possibly
one of those shows where we are fortunate to have a younger band stopping off
at the Bottleneck on a meteoric journey to the stars. The band is called Catfish and
I have just had news that they received the best new band award for 2016
from Blues in Britain magazine, so certainly no hype involved
and a high quality evening in store.
Tickets
£12.00, pay on the door. Bookings to me at the return email address. Doors
open 7.30pm, band on stage 8.45pm. Good food, reasonably
priced, available to eat at your table if required. Further
information, upcoming shows, location map etc., available at www.bottleneckblues.com.
So,
that's Catfish, appearing on Tuesday 25th April.
Please do support.
