FRIDAY 5 MAY  THOMAS McCARTHY  and ROBIN GILLAN

Two highly individual performers share the evening !

Thomas McCarthy  is a brilliant singer with a highly decorated style and unique

repertoire absorbed from a long line of singers and musicians in his Irish traveller family.

  Robin Gillan sings to his own fiddle / banjo / squeezebox/  guitar/ accompaniment,

switching from songs learnt from Davie Stewart to Roscoe Holcomb with equal conviction.

 With English tunes from The Pigeons (Sarah Crofts, Paul Gross, Paul Quarry)

presented by REG HALL

Reg has played piano at countless Irish sessions in London for over 60 years and has written a unique study of this passionate musical community. Tonight he presents two generations of the Linane family on flute, fiddle and accordion, plus more singers and musicians to be announced.  Reg Hall's monumental and comprehensive history of Irish music in London  " A Few Tunes of Good Music" is available for free viewing on  Topic Records topicrecords.co.uk

 Reg Hall's monumental and comprehensive history of Irish music in London  " A Few Tunes of Good Music" is now available for free viewing and download as a fantastic online flipbook, complete with many illustrations, discography and original interview material.    March 2016 Topic Records released two magnificent compendiums of Irish Music in LondonTSCD679T "It was mighty!" ~ The Early Days and  TSCD680T "It was great altogether!" ~ The Continuing Tradition  Compiled by Dr. Reg Hall, these two three-CD collections of rare recordings allow us a very privileged view of a unique community who lived this music.
