FORTHCOMING GUESTS:

MAY 2ND – CHRIS CLEVERLEY
(
http://chriscleverley.com/)

For some time now, whispers have been spreading about Chris Cleverley and his haunting tales of ghost women, lonesome clock towers and lovelorn mariners. He has gone from strength to strength since winning Bristol Folk Festival’s 2014 ‘Isambard Folk Award’, sharing the bill with the likes of Martin Simpson, Spiers & Boden, and Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman. Chris has stirred up a formidable word-of-mouth reputation and received glowing reviews of his debut record in the folk press.

MAY 9TH – LIZ SIMCOCK
(
http://www.lizsimcock.com/)

Liz Simcock is a firm favourite at Dartford Folk Club, where we’ve seen her progress from occasional floor spots to become one of the more accomplished singer-songwriters on the folk/acoustic scene. Liz counts Clive Gregson and Christine Collister amongst her greatest influences and over the past couple of years has been touring in partnership with Clive to celebrate his and Christine’s music.

MAY 16TH – OKA VANGA
(
https://okavanga.com/)

Angela Meyer & William Cox are an award winning Folk & Roots duo. Whether singing, playing guitar, ukulele or mandolin, their relaxed banter and gift for story telling makes their music both interesting and memorable. Both have worked as freelance musicians and music teachers. Angie has now returned to writing her own music and together with husband William formed Oka Vanga. When schedules allow their line-up also includes Oliver Copeland on double bass.

MAY 23RD – JOHN DOYLE (IRELAND)
(
https://johndoylemusic.com/home)

Born into a musical family in Dublin, John Doyle turned pro at 16. He was a founding member of the highly acclaimed group, Solas, which performed to sell-out audiences internationally. He has since gone on to work with many greats of the folk world, including Tim O’Brien, Linda Thompson, Kate Rusby, Mike McGoldrick and John McCusker. In recent years, as a solo artist, he has firmly established himself as one of the most versatile and creative voices in folk and traditional Irish music.

MAY 30TH – JEZ LOWE & KATE BRAMLEY
(
http://www.jezlowe.com/)

Jez Lowe, a long-time favourite at Dartford, is famous for his songs about the mining culture and people of the North East. Fairport Convention, Tannahill Weavers, The Black Family, The Dubliners and Cherish the Ladies are among the many who have covered his work. Kate Bramley generally performs with him in The Bad Pennies, on fiddle and vocals. She started singing with her father around local folk clubs while growing up in Cornwall. Kate also pursues a separate career, writing and directing for the theatre. This will be a rare opportunity to see them as a duo.
