First up, news of a special ticketed event that we have the
pleasure of announcing right now!
Cocos Lovers
'Summer Of
Love' Anniversary Special
Wednesday 21st June
In 1967, nearly 100,000 free-spirited adventurers congregated in
the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco, USA to join a
cultural revolution that created some of the era's most memorable
music, art, fashion and literature.
Wearing flowers in their hair, people danced through the streets,
promoting peace in a war-ravaged world. Their legacy remains, and
five decades later Cocos Lovers will pay tribute to the 50th
anniversary of the Summer of Love with a live performance at The
Lighthouse.
Operating well beyond the remit of alt-folk, Cocos Lovers
(pronounced Co-Coss) are a distinctive musical force, seamlessly
channelling influences from Africa, the US Deep South and several
other real and imagined corners of the globe, while staying ever
faithful to their Kentish roots. Hailing from the small but
musically rich town of Deal, they are a close-knit 7-piece band of
family, friends and former au pairs. Their music swells with
powerful choir-like harmonies and glorious widescreen melodies, and
they've earned a reputation for fantastic live performances with an
ever-changing instrumental line-up of mandolin, acoustic and
electric guitars, violin, musical saw, flute and a unique blend of
drums and percussion.
The latest incarnation of their sound sees a healthy step into more
electric realms.

Recent
winners of the Steve Reid InNOVAtion Award for boundary-pushing
new music creators, The Little Unsaid have spent the last year
travelling the UK and Europe, leaving audiences emotionally
rapt with a live show that's been described as ?a thumping depth
of passion, recalling the intensity and melancholic overtones
of Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.'
Led by Yorkshire-born songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John
Elliott, the band have just completed their forthcoming album,
Imagined Hymns & Chaingang Mantras, recorded with Radiohead
engineer and acclaimed film score producer Graeme Stewart.
Stewart's touch lends a sweeping, cinematic quality to the
album's ten deeply personal songs, written during Elliott's
recovery from post-traumatic stress disorder after a year of
ongoing personal trauma brought his life and music career to a
standstill.
