?500 ART31 Awards for young people - Applications now open!

Have you done something amazing in the arts? Do you know a young person who has achieved something brilliant?

ART31 are offering awards of ?500 to young people to help them realise their creative ambitions, and recognise their achievements in and contributions to the arts in Kent.

Young people can nominate themselves for an ART31 Award, or can be nominated by someone else (of any age).

Nominations must:

-       Be for a young person aged 13-25 living in Kent or Medway.

-       Explain why you/the young person should be considered for an ART31 Award

-       Explain how you/the young person will benefit from the Award

Award winners will be invited to the ART31 Awards ceremony at Gulbenkian on Saturday 15th July, where they will be presented with their ?500 Award, to spend on an activity, opportunity or item related to their arts interests and ambitions. The Awards ceremony will take place in the evening, following ART31?s UPrising event ? a one-day festival focussing on the biggest challenges young people are currently facing, including mental health and wellbeing, employment and education.

The ART31 Awards evening is a celebration of young people as artists, so the ceremony will feature a range of performances by young people, from theatre and music to dance and film. Acrojou, one of the UK?s leading street theatre and circus companies, will also be performing their new, ART31-commissioned piece Vessel, the sequel to 2016?s All At Sea.

Applications for the ART31 Awards are open until Mon 19 June, and you can apply at www.art31.co.uk

ART31 is a movement, empowering 13-25 year olds across Kent and giving them access to artistic opportunities as well as teaching them creative skills.

The ART31 Awards are supported by Canterbury City Council. UPrising is supported by Arts Council England, Kent County Council and Gulbenkian.

ENDS.
