Hello Everyone...Yassas!

We've just returned from the beautiful Greek Island of Skopelos and despite a frantic day of unpacking and catching up with the inevitable backlog are still feeling relaxed after a busy year so far.  It hasn't left us much time to remind you all that we have our last Gulbenkian date of this current season coming up tomorrow night with the excellent multi national and super talented Celtic band - Cara.

This award winning band write their own music, featuring beautiful twin vocals from Gudrun and Kim... along with fiddle, diatonic accordian, uilliean pipes, flute, whistles, grand piano, acoustic and electric guitar, dobro and bodhran, these guys make a very rich and exciting sound.  See what others say below.....

"Yet We Sing showcases a world class band in top form."  Irish Music Magazine, Alex Monaghan

"a musical force to be reckoned with...they can really fly"
The Scotsman, Jim Gilchrist rating ****4stars

"Great musicianship, great production and total respect for the material. Wonderful, what a great band. "  Mike Harding

"They've been achieving wonders on the Celtic circuit. Look out for them!"
 Iain Anderson, BBC Scotland

"Yet We Sing is that rare triumph of a record that beautifully renders both songs and tunes. Whether you're a devoted follower of Cara or you've never heard them before, this is an album that will leave its marks in your memory for a long time."  Bright Young Folk, Sol-Loreto Miller

Find out a bit more about them Here

Opening the evening for Cara will be Canterbury's own and very talented Emily Watts.  Some of you may have been to concerts organised by Emily, she is involved with the brilliant Music for Change series and her own promotions - Beautiful Town Music, on top of which she writes her own songs and sings them very beautifully, accompanying herself on the piano.

"A songwriter to be reckoned with. ****"   Songwriting Magazine

"For fans of London Grammar? lovely vocals over beautiful production"   BBC Introducing

"Echoes of early Adele mingle with classical overtones as her voice soars above her hypnotic piano." The Musician

Despite what promises to be a fantastic line-up and performance, sadly, as often happens with a band people haven't heard of - ticket sales are much lower than they should be for a band of this calibre, 75 at the last count eeek!   We've had some absolutely brilliant concerts this year and many of those that have attended have commented on the lack of packed outness. It is a pity and it makes such a difference to the whole atmosphere if the audience is in plentiful supply.  Not only that - what better way to escape this melty mid-summer heat than spend an evening in a beautifully cool air-conditioned auditorium listening to some top music!  In any case, I'm really looking forward to this - and hope to see you too.
