fROOTS 412, the OCTOBER ISSUE - IS OUT NOW

The October issue of fRoots, fR412, is being posted out from our printers today! Current UK subscribers should be receiving it soon (and can already access your free digital editions in the usual way) and it's in the shops Thursday next week, 21st September. On the cover, that remarkable US traditional duo Anna & Elizabeth who have been wowing UK audiences with their Appalachian singing, music and ?crankie' visuals. We've got pieces on two UK veterans, guitar legend Martin Simpson who has just released what is possibly his best album, and squeezebox wizard John Kirkpatrick. Plus: more duos - The Be Good Tanyas' Jolie Holland & Samantha Parton are back as one, and Taj Mahal & Keb Mo and House And Land too; a spread on Norway's great F?rde Folk Festival; a look back at the days when country blues was a major part of the UK folk scene; interviews with Welsh guitarist Toby Hay, radical music hall revivers The Blood Tub Orchestra, Swedish/Finnish trio Folk'Avant, Cape Verde's Coladera, American songwriter Sara Jane Scouten; and Sam Amidon answering the Rocket Launcher questions. All this plus massive reviews and news sections, our regular columnists Tim Chipping and Elizabeth Kinder, BIFF and all the rest?

RADIO RADIO!

We hope you're in the habit of listening to our monthly fRoots Radio podcast. It's usually around 75 minutes long including something from every one of our favourite new albums in the Page 5 Playlist chart, plus more delights from artists featured in the latest issue or chosen by presenter (and fRoots Ed.) Ian Anderson. If you like what we cover in fRoots, there's nowhere else on the wireless or web that you can guarantee to hear all this.

There's a new edition live at Podomatic and Mixcloud, and you can find all the playlists and links at podwireless.com  If you're a first-timer and like what you hear, you can find the last two year's worth archived too.
