FRIDAY NOVEMBER 10th

MATT QUINN plus BELINDA KEMPSTER & FRAN FOOTE

MATT QUINN www.mattquinnmusic.co.uk  is a brilliant young singer and instrumentalist (melodeon, concertina and mandolin) who has played in many  collaborations, notably the lovely Dovetail Trio. His latest CD The Brighton Line (HEBE CD 008) focuses on the unaccompanied singing  traditions of his native Sussex, inspired the likes of  Pop Maynard, Mary Ann Haynes and Johnny Doughty. Dad Dan Quinn will be joining him for a few tunes !

BELINDA KEMPSTER & FRAN FOOTE    We first enjoyed Fran's singing with STICK IN THE WHEEL www.stickinthewheel.com then discovered that her mother Belinda Kempster is also a lovely singer !

The mother and daughter duo from Essex share a love of English country songs, some learnt from family member Ernest Austin, a farm mechanic from North Essex recorded by Topic records in the 1970s. Fran and  Belinda have always preferred to learn songs directly from the singing of others including family members, so their unaccompanied singing has the real feeling of tradition.
