Subject: Breabach Are Back

Hello

Welcome!  ....if you 've recently signed up to the emailing list... Or indeed if you've been here for ages and read every word wink.   Some of you may remember the early days, almost 15 years ago now, when we sent news by pigeon.  The pigeons were over-anxious though, used to get in a flap! Yes this week's mailout is written by Ric Sanders Ladies and Gentlemen.  (no not really).  Apologies for that (and to Ric), where were we?  Yes, what about Sunday eh!  The Young'uns were incredible I thought. Beautiful stuff and such lovely chaps. A really magical evening and definitely ones to invite back.  Thanks to you all, we managed to fill the downstairs of the Cathedral Lodge, hopefully next time, now everyone knows how wonderful they are, we'd be able to fill the balcony too.  What did you think of the Hut People? They'd like to come and do a full show for us sometime, would that be of interest?

The more people we book over the years, the harder it is to have everyone we love back again as there are only so many months in a year and behinds to put on seats. Sometimes we have to wait a bit longer to re-book wonderful musicians we'd like to see much sooner, and I feel it's important not to just have the favourites back endlessly but to create opportunities for new (to us) artists as well....

Breabach

One band that put on a stunning concert for us three years ago were Scots five piece Breabach.  With Megan's beautiful voice and fiddle playing, backed by the fellas on Guitar, Bouzouki, Bass, Pipes and Whistles, this band create soul stirring music that both soothes and engergizes. From the gentlest breeze caressing the heather to swirling melodies entrancing to your ears, to full height, blood pumping, joyous twin piped pinnacles!  They have it all. And if that doesn't lure you ... I don't know what will!

Touring with their latest album 'Astar' ("This is a truly exceptional musical offering from a band that just keeps getting better" Fatea Magazine) "Where and When?"  I hear you cry....it's tomorrow, at the lovely Gulbenkian, it would fantastic to see you there.  As always, the more the better in every way.

A bit more about Breabach....Voted ?Best Live Act 2013' & 'Best Folk Band 2012? at the Scots Trad Music Awards and twice nominated ?Best Band' at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards; Scottish five-piece Breabach deliver a thrilling and unique brand of contemporary folk music that has earned them international recognition on the world and roots music scene as one of the UK's most dynamic and exciting bands.

After a whirlwind five years traversing the globe, touring Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America, Scandinavia and the middle East, Breabach are delighted to announce their fifth studio album Astar (translating from ScottishGaelic as distance or journey). The music on the album takes inspiration from the beauty of both the places and people the band have visited and the wonderful musicians and cultures encountered along the way.

"With Scottish rhythms and melodies still at the root of their sound, Astar sees Breabach in an electrifying new phase - one that illustrates the band's strength and interest in experimentation. Exhilarating, energetic and accomplished Astar is a rare, beautiful treat."  Songlines
