Are you interested in song collecting and discovering
more about the songs of the Irish Traveller community?
Experienced song collectors Sam Lee and James McDonald will be
leading a training field trip around Ireland in early 2018. The
week-long trip will involve meeting with some of the many singers
previously recorded, discovering new singers, and perhaps even
recording songs and stories not yet heard. There will also be
time spent on the repatriation of recordings published on our
website.
We have a small number of funded (by the Arts Council England)
places to join this trip and develop your skills in the art of
song collecting, audio/video recording and to simply enjoy the
sharing of songs with incredible people. Involvement will require
certain time commitments during the week as well as time before
& after for the training and debrief.
What do we cover?:
- Air Travel (reimbursed up
to a certain amount) to Ireland and transport within Ireland over
the dates of the trip 28th January - 3rd February 2018
- All
accommodation, breakfast and lunch daily

Online and hands on face-to-face training before and during the
trip
