all Another
turbulent year comes to a close, and the news as always is full of pain and
trouble. Somewhat against our will, we've come to the conclusion that
the best contribution we can make is just to keep writing the songs and
delivering them as well as we can. That and praise anyone who tries to shine
a light in the darkness. The
Tour so far has been possibly the most satisfying ever. It's not just a
matter of selling the tickets - though of course it was gratifying to sell
out London Union Chapel and some other venues - but of the nature of
people's response: your enthusiasm revitalised the older songs for us, and
the band started really cooking! Recently we've been playing at least as well
as we've ever done, and 40 years be damned. People
who "get" Oysterband seem to REALLY get it - there may not be millions
of you, but we feel validated and energised by this tour, and we can't thank
you enough for that. And of course lots of old friends and acquaintances came
out of the woodwork, always a pleasure. (Including long-time Oyster and good
friend Lee Partis on a few shows, see below.) We're
deeply grateful for your interest and support over so many years. |
