Subject: FOLK AT THE DRUM (FATD) - NEW DATA REGULATIONS - OPEN DISTRIBUTION LIST & bcc DISTRIBUTION LIST

Good Afternoon All,

You are probably all aware that  the collection and retention of personal data is the subject of new regulation.  Like me, you have probably received numerous requests to confirm that you wish to remain on numerous e-mail distribution lists.

For the ten plus years that I have been running this club I have run two distribution lists, one that is open and one that is bcc.  Just to explain bcc, it is defined as: to send a blind carbon copy or to send as a blind carbon copy.  What that means is that nobody else on the distribution sees the address of someone who receives a blind carbon copy.  If you are in doubt which you receive then look for your name in the distribution and if it is not there you are receiving the e-mail bcc.

During this time when I have added names to the list I have specifically asked people which list they would like to be on.  There are 69 names on the open list which is designed to let those who are interested in the club communicate with one another if they wish.  There are 8 on the bcc list.

In the light of the new regulations if any one wishes their details to be removed from the open list then please let me know and I will do so.  Furthermore if anyone wishes to be transferred to the bcc list or removed altogether would they please make that clear.

I think it goes without saying that if anyone wishes at any time, now or in the future, to discontinue receiving my occasional insights into what is happening at FATD then if they let me know I will remove them from the distribution.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards

David
