3RD - MIDNIGHT SKYRACER
Midnight Skyracer is an all-female Anglo-Irish bluegrass band. Formed in 2017, they had a short tour during the summer and have since followed this up with their debut album. They are: Leanne Thorose (mandolin) who has recorded a solo album in Nashvile, Tabitha Agnew (banjo) who we have seen at Dartford with Cup O'Joe, Carrivick sisters Laura (fiddle & dobro) and Charlotte (flatpick guitar) and Eleanor Wilkie (double bass) who is the band's main songwriter. It should be a great night!
JULY 10TH - JESS MORGAN & KITTY MACFARLANE
Jess Morgan and Kitty Macfarlane first toured together in December 2017, thanks to support from the English Folk Song and Dance Society and the PRS Help Musicians Fund. This tour proved so successful that they have decided to tour together again, each performing one set during the evening. This will be an excellent chance to see these two highly regarded young singer-songwriters for the price of one!
17TH - VERA VAN HEERINGEN TRIO
Vera van Heeringen's debut album was released in 2012, marking a change of direction after 5 years of touring as part of the New Rope String Band. With influences firmly rooted across the Atlantic, she writes soulful songs with lyrics speaking straight from the heart. Vera will be supported by Dave Luke (guitar, mandolin and vocals) and Andy Seward (double bass). Tim O'Brien, who features on one of her CDs, said: "She can play anything with strings, write fine songs and sing them too. Go see her play live..."
24TH - VICKI SWAN & JONNY DYER
Vicki and Jonny have built a reputation as one of the best young duos on the folk scene today. Vicki is a superb musician who plays the Swedish nyckelharpa, Scottish smallpipes and flute. Jonny is a brilliantly inventive guitarist. Much of their repertoire is written by Jonny, but generally in a traditional style. It ranges from driving, up-tempo tunes to soulful airs, with sensitively sung songs and a good selection of music hall for variety.
31ST - TIM EDEY
If you have previously seen Tim Edey at Dartford, you won't need persuading to see him again! Originally from Broadstairs, he is one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in the Celtic music scene and is a virtuoso on both melodeon and guitar. His freewheeling approach to live performance captivates audiences and means that he is in great demand to work with other leading performers. In the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards he was named Best Musician and, together with Brendan Power, Best Duo. Don't be surprised if he brings along a friend or two to accompany him.
The Club will be closed for regular guest nights but there will be SINGAROUNDS on at least some Tuesdays - more details in the next newsletter and on the website.
