'Simply Vocal Heaven' this Weekend
|
Well, football
may not be coming home this weekend after all, but some beautiful music
will be coming to Canterbury if that helps ease the disappointment a
bit.
We have the Folk
in the Barn official end of season cup final this weekend with two
brilliant fixtures for your listening and viewing pleasure.
Saturday - Heidi Talbot & John McCusker
On Saturday at
beautiful St Gregory's Centre for Music in Canterbury we have a first
FitB visit from 'heavenly' singer Heidi Talbot, along with her partner
John McCusker and Innes White on guitar. Partners in life as well
as in music, despite being part of each other's musical projects for
ten years, surprisingly this is the first time they have toured
together as a headline act. With a new EP 'Love is a Bridge between
Two Hearts', this a very personal show and has been receiving excellent
reviews. Heidi has a voice that can melt Winter and John's
extraordinary playing is of course well known to all FitB audiencers,
and in demand world-wide.
You may have
overlooked this concert because once more I'm letting you know that
only 53 tickets have been pre-sold, we were expecting about 150 for
artists of this calibre. I know the football and tennis have all
been very exciting and distracting, but music will soothe out all the
tension caused by penalty shoot outs and extra time.

Then on Sunday
we have what proved very popular last year - our end of Summer Garden
Party at 'Edge of Beyond' in Barham with more heavenly music from
Arcelia.
Come and relax
in the beautiful grounds of 'Edge of Beyond' in Barham. Bring a picnic
and chairs/picnic blankets and enjoy a couple of hours in the July
sunshine listening to the divine voices of harmony trio Arcelia. After
all - there is nothing on the tele now is there! :)
Doors are at
4.30pm for a 5pm start, we will provide strawberries (with or without
cream) and a glass of Pimms for all.
Arcelia are a
soulful folk trio from the valleys of Kent. An exquisite sound which
has been likened to Crosby Stills & Nash, America and Paul Simon.
We love them.
"?the vocals
across the tracks stand out as something special?the blend of harmonies
lift the songs to another level? acoustic mood music of the highest
order?" Folk & Roots
Doors 4.30pm for

As a private
house concert we're unable to sell tickets in advance, but can reserve
places and suggest a voluntary donation on the day for each place of

Please email me
to reserve places so we know how many to expect. At the moment there
is still plenty of room, so please do come along if you're
free.
For those that
have reserved places - thank you very much - parking will be in the
grounds of Edge of Beyond, same as last year. Access is through
the Duke of Cumberland (Barham) car park. At the back of the car
park there is a five bar gate - which will be open. Come through
there and park in the field. The address and postcode for the pub
is Duke of Cumberland, The Street, Barham, Canterbury, CT4 6NY .
Edge of Beyond is directly behind the pub. If you have any further
questions please email or facebook message me.
It'd be great to
see you at either or both events, I guarantee the music will be more
harmonious than the sport, ..... Remember this.... the definition
of a perfect pitch has nothing to do with grass, it's when you toss a
banjo into the dustbin and it hits an accordion!
