MOLLY'S
LIPS
(FULL
BAND SHOW)
+ SUPPORT TBA
Wednesday 22nd August
Tickets ?8 in advance - available behind the bar and
online ...
(Tickets ?10 on the door - subject to availability)
Molly's Lips (a.k.a. Billy Glinn and Phil Self of
Cocos Lovers, The Hellfire Orchestra, Will Varley) have been
working hard these past few years. Their first release was recorded
in their kitchen and printed up totally by hand. They've stepped it
up for this release; drafting in Joel Magill (Syd Arthur) to record
it and getting stellar musicians such as James Gow (Knee High,
Lunch Money) and Raven Bush (Syd Arthur, Kate Tempest, The Gaslamp
Killer) to play on it.
Along with the expected guitars, harmonies and strings this release
sees the addition of reed organs, synths and live electronics to
create a blend of atmospheric acoustic and electronic sounds.

Cocos
Lovers are set to grace The
Lighthouse stage on Wednesday for a rare free entry show
as a warm-up to upcoming festival appearances, including
Celebration Days in France and the local (and awesome)
Smugglers Festival.
Operating well beyond the remit of alt-folk, Cocos Lovers are a
distinctive musical force, seamlessly channelling influences
from Africa, the US Deep South and several other real and
imagined corners of the globe, while staying ever faithful to
their Kentish roots. Their music swells with powerful
choir-like harmonies and glorious widescreen melodies, and
they've earned a reputation for fantastic live performances
with an ever-changing instrumental line-up of mandolin,
acoustic and electric guitars, violin, musical saw, flute and a
unique blend of drums and percussion.
The latest incarnation of their sound sees a healthy step into
more electric realms, with their forth album set for release
this Autumn.
Plus ? we'll be welcoming pre-show tunes from:
