a performing musician. Born and raised in Manchester but based in
Nashville, Clive Gregson is an accomplished singer, musician and record
producer of world-renown. He formed the groundbreaking partnership with
Christine Collister and toured with the Richard Thompson Band, Between

Boo Hewerdine and Nanci Griffith. He’s one of the most respected
songwriters of his time, a steady stream of stunning albums throughout his
career, with many of his songs recorded by a host of contemporaries. Above
all Clive’s live shows are something special and definitely not to be
      missed. "state
of the art in British folk-rock" Rolling Stone

      May   | Eliza
Gilkyson is one of the very finest
singers to emerge from the America in last few years, garnering ever more
acclaim with each new recording and appearance. A fourth generation artist
(her father, Terry wrote classics like 'Memories Are Made of This', the
Jungle Book song 'Bare Necessities' and the 1957 hit, 'Marianne"), Eliza
is now on her 4th UK tour in 3 years and has seen her popularity rocket
following appearances on Bob Harris and Johnny Walker's BBC radio shows.
In February of 2003, Gilkyson was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of
Fame, alongside an exclusive list of greats, including Willie Nelson, Joe
Ely, Nanci Griffith and others. "Her
songwriting has a Dylanesque quality as her tunes burst with edgy lyrics
and poetic imagination. With a knowing eye on the past, Eliza Gilkyson is
making folk music for the 21st Century, and it's a delightful thing to
      hear" Austin
      Chronicle “Milk
and Honey is a must-have album for anyone turned on by intimate, seductive
vocals, killer melodies and lyrics that hit the heart and refuse to leave.
      Cue the repeat button” BBC
       Eliza will be
accompanied on this date by Austin guitarist Robert McEntee, who has appeared with
Dan Fogelberg, Ian Matthews and Carole King, among many others, both in
live performance and on CD and TV. |   | |
| Friday 23
June     | We are absolutely delighted to
      welcome back Guy Davis, who
was one of the highlights of our 2005 programme. Described as having "a
voice like Howlin' Wolf dipped in honey", Guy is a musician, composer,
actor, director, and writer. But most importantly, Guy Davis is a
‘Bluesman’. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to reviving
the traditions of acoustic blues and bringing them to as many ears as
possible through the material of the great blues masters, African American
stories, and his own original songs, stories and performance pieces.
       Guy is
accompanied tonight (appearing for the first time in the UK) by two of the
musician's who have regularly appeared on his recordings: Mark Murphy
(bass) and Nerak Roth Patterson (electric
      guitar). "Over
the last half a dozen years or so the albums of Guy Davis have been a
constant source of inspiration and wonderment. Lining up alongside other
modern bluesmen such as Eric Bibb and Keb Mo, Davis is the complete
      performer." Support for the
      evening is provided by Jay
Stapeley, a guitarist who has worked with artists as diverse as
Roger Waters, Mike Oldfield, Suede and Scott Walker. His guitar work
features on the soundtrack of the classic movie, Withnail and I.

July   | Often compared to Melissa
Etheridge, Bonnie Raitt and Joan Osbourne, Eve Selis has been impressing
audiences in the US and beyond. Winner of the 2005 San Diego Best
Americana award, Eve mixes country with R&B, blues and folk and her
band includes some of Southern California's finest musicians. She is one
of the top female artists on music download site MP3.com and has had ten
number one songs in various charts. On stage Eve delivers a stunning
performance with equal parts innocence and authority, always soulful,
strong and sexy. Her voice is variously described as passionate, melodic,
raspy and sweet, with a phenomenal range. She has opened for Crosby,
Stills & Nash who dedicated "Darkstar" to her after a mesmerizing set.
       This is a special
warm-up night before she heads for Newark to headline the next evening at
      the Americana Festival. "A
gifted writer and electrifying singer who stands head and shoulders above
      many "One
of the best shows I've ever seen in the U.K.". Bob

      July | Pete
      Atkin is the 'near-legendary'
British singer and songwriter who in the early 1970s made six albums of
songs demonstrating a rare combination of melodic invention and evocation
with lyrics of love and regret, told with ironic humour and acute
observation. Pete wrote the music, and Australian humorist, writer and TV
critic, Clive James, wrote the words. The songs earned Pete Atkin the
respect of some of Britain's best rock and jazz session musicians. He was
joined in the studio and on tour by a number of them, notably Chris
Spedding, Herbie Flowers, Alan Parker, Barry Morgan, Kenny Clare and Ray
Cooper, and though remaining virtually unknown to the popular
record-buying public he built up a huge following on the UK college
      circuit. In recent years,
Pete and Clive have again combined their songwriting talents, producing
new albums every bit as good as those from the early days. This is very
rare opportunity to catch Pete Atkin solo, with just guitar and
      piano. Liz
Simcock is a great songwriter and
gorgeous singer with a relaxed and endearing stage presence. Sharing the
bill, her very ‘English’ songs will be the perfect complement to Pete's
      eclectic material. |   |
