FRIDAY 19th AUGUST
Effra
Open from 5pm // Ale Happy Hour 6-7pm // Live music from 8:30pm
FREE ENTRY

They are an instrumental folk trio comprising of Aidan Shepherd on accordion, Alex Bishop on guitar and Tom Newell playing fiddle and mandolin.

Their sparkling, contemporary take on roots music is sometimes likened to acts such as Spiro and more locally, bands like Arlet. This might not come as a surprise as Aidan is also a member and the main composer of the latter.

This is a chance to catch this trio as they embark on a UK tour. You can expect a mixture of virtuoso musicianship and playful experimentation.

THURSDAY 18th AUGUST
The Lighthouse Quiz Night
Open from 5pm // Ale Happy Hour 6-7pm // Quiz from 8pm
?2 per player

Hosted by David Hatton, the night puts a spin on the classic pub quiz format with audio/visual rounds and other surprises!

And remember, as from last month, we have changed how the prize money is awarded, with 50% for first place team, 30% for second, and 20% for third. There's also a mystery booby prize for the team with least points!

Teams of 3-6 people please!

SATURDAY 20th AUGUST
Sam Brookes + Tom Bright
Open from 5pm // Ale Happy Hour 6-7pm // Live music from 8:30pm
FREE ENTRY

Sam's music has echoes and intonations reminiscent of Tim Buckley and John Martyn, while his intricate finger-picking style is instantly recognizable as his own, standing far above his peers. Brookes' songs are stream-of-consciousness, wordy and worldly observations, with an immediacy and distinct character.

Sam has gained recognition in the form of high profile support slots with Joan Armatrading, Ray Davies and Newton Faulkner; this combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and a close kinship with other musicians such as Lucy Rose, Pete Roe and Emily & The Woods has allowed his live and recorded sound to evolve in to a more powerful and provocative body of work.

Tom Bright will open the show in a duo show with lyricism and delivery somewhat reminiscent of Alex Turner. His sound has been described as ?grit-pop' and he is currently working on his debut album with Mick Jones of The Clash.
