Kent Folk - Open Stages

There are now a range of open stage / open mic. events in Kent, in a number of venues on different days of the week. New musicians are very welcome. CJ now runs quite a number of them - get her to sing herself - no longer just a drummer, she has developed a lovely voice.

The Pier Open stage is finishing after a year - I had to give something up, as I am 25 weeks pregnant!!

Wednesday
The Smack, 34-36 Middle Wall, Whitstable, Kent. CT5 1BJ - open mic night - CJ has been running this for four years now & it is very popular, EVERY Wednesday! A small stage with a very welcoming & supportive audience. So many extremely talented musicians turn up & play - but beginners welcome too. All syles of music welcomed too, with instruments to use. - CJ

First Thursday of the month:
The Two Brewers Acoustic Music night runs on the first Thursday of every month at the Two Brewers, 113 High Street, Rochester, ME1 1JS, 8.30pm onwards, hosted by Sally Ironmonger Trio. (www.sallyironmonger.co.uk). Open Mic Night, PA provided.

Alternate Thursdays:
Jack Pound's Open Stage, Butt of Sherry, 132 High St, Hythe, CT21 5LD. 8.30 pm, ring Jack : 01303 266 112.
Last Thursday of the month
Orange Street Music Club, 15 Orange Street, Canterbury, Kent. CT1 2JA - CJ writes : My latest open stage is at the wonderful music venue - Orange Street Music Club - the next Penny Theatre??? I am running this on the last Thursday of the month, but it will soon be twice a month. It is so popular, about 10 acts don't get on!! So, turn up early or contact cj.

3rd Friday of every month
The Carpenters Arms, 102 Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury, Kent. CT1 2DE - Open Mic nite - on the 3rd Friday of every month. Again - popular - & all musicians/ listeners welcome. This one has been running for a year & a half. - CJ

2nd Saturday of the month
Open stage at The Smack, 34-36 Middle Wall, Whitstable, Kent. CT5 1BJ - is a bit quieter as far as musicians go - so plenty of space to play for a longer slot too. - CJ
