Celtic Sessions

The high quality Irish sessions that have taken place in Kent for many years are in a state of flux, and are in urgent need of new players if they are to survive in the long-term. There is good reason to hope that young new fiddlers may soon be in the county and able to join, but other players are needed as well.

Wednesday Irish Session : This has moved back to the George, Molash, but is only running on a reduced "workshop" basis until numbers recover.
2nd Sunday Irish Session : This continues at the Unicorn in Bekesbourne.
Last Sunday Irish Session : This has moved from Ship in Faversham to the Anchor in Wingham.
If you are passing and have an interest in playing at an Irish/Celtic session, contact me and I will see whom I can drum up.

2nd Monday of the month:
Half Moon and Seven Stars at Preston, n.r Canterbury CT31EB : a French/European/Breton Session at 8.30pm. 'Fraid I believe this is not happening at the moment.

3rd Mondays of the month:
Plough and Harrow, Tilmanstone, nr. Deal. CT14 0HX 01304 617 582. A Traditional music session, start time 8.30pm. Currently is not happening at the moment.

Tuesday:

1st Tuesday of the month:
A new Swing Jazz session in the Blind Dog, 13 Rosemary Lane, Canterbury. CT1 2PNa No longer happening.

2nd Tuesday of the month:

Last Tuesday of the month:
"Mick & Nicks" traditional music evening : This mixed session/folk evening is now yet again back up and running, in the Three Mariners, 37 Windmill Street, Hythe. CT21 6BH (was previously at the Kings Head and the Botolphs Bridge Inn.)

Wednesday:
The high quality Celtic session that was on Stone St., and then in Wingham, is now back at the George Inn, Molash, CT4 8HE , and has a good range of musicians, often including some fiddlers.

Thurday:
This mixed session has now moved back to the Bear, in Faversham, ME13 7AG;
and an excellent evening it is, well attended by a range of musicians (including some young ones), and a packed pub.
White Hart Folk Club, Hythe - This has now been subsumed into "Folk at The Drum" :
Folk At The Drum, North Stanford, TN25 6DN, just off Stone Street which is just North of the Hythe exit from the M20.

First Thursday of the month:
New: The Two Brewers Acoustic Music night runs on the first Thursday of every month at the Two Brewers, 113 High Street, Rochester, ME1 1JS, 8.30pm onwards, hosted by Sally Ironmonger Trio. (www.sallyironmonger.co.uk). Open Mic Night, PA provided.

1st Sunday:
Hot Club style Jazz session at St Julians, Sevenoaks, TN15 0RX, lead by Bob Winquist (violin), Rick Townend & Gill Sands (guitars) and Nick Sands (bass). Time: 5-7pm.
